I've always used the standard Windows defragmenter.
I didn't know there are other ones.
Are the other ones more efficient?

Diskeeper and Perfectdisk are the two main ones that seem to do a better job then the standard Windows Defragmenter..

O&O Defrag is another, but tends not to be used as much as the other two..
It also all depends on if you/re using it for a client or server system..

Whatever is included in Windows Onecare now... Not sure if that is the default or something else. I honestly don't worry about defragging harddrives anymore though. Its a rule of diminishing returns. Though I do keep applications and OS on one drive and data on completely separate drive(s).

Might be more important though when I build my 2 terabyte video/music storage machine.

On Vista, I'm using the included Windows defragmenter. On XP, I use Diskeeper Pro.

Yes, Windows Live OneCare uses defrag.exe "default windows defrag"
I let that run too, but at times it fails to finish..

On my Vista Ultimate client system i use Perfectdisk Pro..
On my XP Pro system i use Diskeeper 2007 Pro Premier..

I just use the default Windows Defrag in Longhorn Server...

I used to use Diskeeper, but switched over to Perfectdisk a while back and have not looked back...

Perfectdisk has always worked well for me.

Since Windows 95, I stopped doing defrags. Back in the day when under DOS, I did it on a regular basis.
