Ecommerce site and a forum to attract traffic?

I would like to open an ecommerce website... one example is on"Rugs".

Now would this make sense to do? Or do you think the forum would be over run with problems and complaints? I think it would be good for generating traffic. Would like advice, maybe other people have allready been down this road?

Rugs? You mean like carpets? Or is it a different type of rug? I wanted to open a ecommerce site with a forum too, but I can't think of anything that I could sell where I could have a forum to discuss it. For example, there's this site about bodybuiling and they have a forum about bodybuilding, and a store that sells supplements and everything related to bodybuilding.

well i don't think too many people would discuss carpets, but in your example yes body building would be good.

Oh, I misread your post, I thought you wanted to start a forum/ecommerce site about rugs.
