  • Rammstein

Rammstein is a German rock group. I like Rammstein but I read their English translated lyrics and they're simple. I like the song "Sonne" but read the English lyrics.

The reason I bring this up is because I think some German folks come here and I would like their opinion on them.

Some of their lyrics you can describe as poetry. Thus they may sound simple in English but the things they are singing about are not.

          /me some German dude

I like them, I've got one of their very first albums and I love their videos - they're mostly distgusting but nevertheless great.

Used to listen to their music quite often but at the moment I took a break from everything musical and right now I only enjoy the sound of a powerful engine.
          That's the end of that!

                  HaHa, basically they are singing:

You, you have, you have asked me and I did not say anything.
                  Which, in German, sounds like:
You, you hate, you hate me etc..

                    Right!

                    Du, du hast, du hast

                    sounds like

                    Du, du hasst, du hasst

but the meaning is totally different.

So it don't mean "you hate me"?
What is the real meaning of the song?

Have you guys heard the english version of the song?

                        He says "You hate.."
                        Let the flames begin.

They are using these words to give you a false impression. What they are actually singing (context wise) is: You have asked me and not you hate asked me which does not make sense of course. There can be these two translations just because hate and have (in that particular tense) have the same pronounciation.

Rammstein is quite nice, but I must say besides their 2 best albums, Sonne and Reise, Reise, their songs are not too good... For example the album Rosenrot is quite bad (like their first albums)
                            Meow!

                            Please excuse my bad English.

I couldn't have explained it better. Do you speak German?
