Theres no good reason not to store your CSS as a file in vBulletin, or any other webpage. -
It is not set as default as it requires a directory to have world-writable permissions. Storing in the database will work on every new install.Want to take your board beyond the standard vBulletin features?

Yes, it helps because the browser can cache it for future requests. If I had to inline all of my CSS, I'd be using a huge amount of bandwidth compared to now.--filburt1, vBulletin.org/vBulletinTemplates.com moderator
