So this morning, I go downstairs to find my housemate playing WoW (as usual), and we get chatting and I'm commenting on how boring it looks and mention how I wish they'd make a LOTR MMORPG. He tells me one is in the works. I rush upstairs to find this link:

Now, i'm not a big gamer, but I'm a huge fan of LOTR and I think participating in middle earth would be great fun. Is anyone else as excited about this as me ?

Yeah that too. You can't play as the evil faction. It was decided early on in the development process that it would not be appropriate for the world of LOTR to have the evil faction as a player. It will be 4 good factions combining to fight against evil. But there will be elements of player vs player, which have yet to be announced.

I think it looks awesome. I'll probably buy it, but I don't really have much time to play video games anymore.

Hopefully they learned from the Dungeons and Dragons MMORPG. Kind of risky for a small company to try and launch two large MMOs so close together though. However maybe they will get it right and break some people away from the WoW juggernaut instead of competing with the leftover 40 percent of the market.
