Safest way to buy a used vB license?

We are interested in buying a used vB license. We are very concerned about cons and scams.

What is the safest procedure for purchasing a used copy of vB?

Can vB verify if the license is available and how to proceed with the transaction? If so, who do we contact?

Is it safe to make a payment through paypal, or should we use another method of payment?

There is really no safe way of doing so. It is recommended to buy a new copy of vBulletin -- that way you can ensure you will not be ripped off.

Just be sure to contact Jelsoft before attempting to make any moeny transactions. There have been cases where pirated copies of vBulletin sold out as legitimate copies. So be careful.

You can ALWAYS get scammed, one example: Everything seems fine.. then 6 months later the owner of the stolen credit card finds out .. and does a chargeback - and you loose the license.

But .. lower the risk by getting the full name, email and license number from the seller. Then contact Jelsoft. And don't pay too much for it. Pay like $75 to $100 max for an owned license. And pay 50% upfront - get it transferred and completed, then give the other 50%.

Don't take their customer account - get your own. The owner MUST request permission from jelsoft.

I'd also keep in mind which site to buy it from, ilke vbfans has a marketplace, and webhostingtalk.com or whatever. They do their best to filter out the scammers.

Obviously as a staff member i strongly recommend against running those risks.. and buy a proper full license from this site.
