  • Found another Boardsoftware !

I found another bulletin board software, and it looks like vBulletin.
    The BoardFAQ looks very similar.

To all those that were part of the "EZBoard" prior to vBulletin. Why weren't all these options available then? It seems like every week now there's a new sql forum out.

      Sigh...

Speaking of Ezboard did you notice in the 2.0.1 announcement that we can now import your Ezboard posts into vBulletin. Contact John if you are interested as we need to do the import for you (there is no fee).

Because vBulletin has helped to make PHP/MySQL popular. Everyone wants a piece of the action.

It's also a lot easier to see how an existing board is put together, and work from that.

vBulletin will be entered into the history books as 'Groundbreaking'.

Even back in late August last year when I started on Ikonboard, there were only about 5 or 6 boards avaiable PHP or Perl. Today there must be nearer 30. We'll see what it's like in 6 months. They'll either be 100 different pieces of forum software, or 2.

Man, the revolution of software and the desire to be innovative

Anyone remeber the time when Quicken introduced the customizable toolbar at the top? It quickly set a trend ... hehe

I'd have to agree.... a little over a year ago, I knew very little about PHP and MySQL, and now it seems to be everywhere!

Php has become so popular because of its power in terms of performance and features over its predecessor, perl. The market sees this now and so lots of people are naturally gravitating toward it.

But of course, there are always those who refuse to open their eyes and say things like "VB is going to be interesting on a big site, when the database chokes, and the php fails.." (by DCF of another forum)

                    (sorry couldn't resist)
                    Well, there it is.

Oh yeah, my PHP fails all the time.

It fails to make me coffee, it fails to wake me up in the morning, and don't get me started about mySQL burning the toast!

Has it been determined that Burning Board is a hacked vBulletin or just similiar in layout/design ?

While it does look and behave similarly to vBulletin, it is not vBulletin

The layout is a new one now, but have a look at this one:
