  • Need help - picking a new video card

This is what processor I have:

    PROCESSOR, 80547, PENTIUM 4 PRESCOTT DT, 520, SOCKET T, E0, MALE

I need a new video card to support dual moniters and allow me to play a video game or two. Would prefer something I can buy online and something inexpensive.

Please recommend one, I am clueless on these.

What motherboard will you be using? Will it be equipped with AGP or PCIe?

Sadly no, it only tells me your CPU uses the LGA775 socket and could use the 915/925/945/955/975 motherboard chipset(s) and they could be caught anywhere between AGP to PCIe :S

Yeah, as mentioned above, it's really important that you know or give us the motherboard info, so that someone doesn't recommend the wrong card/card not supported by your motherboard. There are plenty of good video cards you can choose that will allow you to do what you asked, but we need you to find out the type of motherboard it has. I assume this is a custom built PC, but if it's not, then specifcy the brand & model number

I would go with ATI, if your planning on running Windows Vista in the future.. Make sure the card is on the Windows Vista hardware requirements list though...

              http://www.nvidia.com/page/technology_vista_home.html

If a GPU is listed there, then will it support Aero Glass?

SiSoft Sandra 2007 will tell you in a summery what motherboards, ram, cpu, etc, etc, you have .. which could inform you of how many agp / pci / pci-express etc you have.

Changes are with that cpu that you have a pci-express supported motherboard, these gpu's come with 2x dvi-i connectors for proper dual monitor over dvi.
