Even if its a few hundred dollars thats fine. Any good suggestions?!

phpFoX really didn't impress me that much. I think using vB add-ons like vBJournal, vBDrupal & others in a neat way would gives you a much better community solution without spending all that amount of money.

What features are you looking after specifically?

phpfox seems more like a CMS than just a journal.

My friend has it. Personally I don't think it's worth the money.

I liked alot of the features of phpfox. But at the same time I dont want things to look all frankensteinish by adding a bunch of different things either.

While some things like Drupal are ok, I dont like their menu layout. Joomla has potential, but again the admin cp fails to impress.

Any good suggestions for community based software is good. Even if it costs a few bucks. I just dont want my VB board to look all frankensteinish with a bunch of add-ons.

According to an email I received from them today there are no updates included in the $300 license price for phpFox. If you want updates you have to pay an additional $50 or just live with the bugs if the version you have is buggy.
Also, they list a non-existent version of MySQL as minimum requirement. That certainly doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in the product, especially since the reasin I was given for the listing of 3.3.0 was so that people wouldn't ask questions about whether their server would support it or not.
I was looking for somthing like this, too. Pity they want to stick you with buggy software at initial purchase unless you pay extra.

I have a PHPFox site, or I did. I started it on September 3rd and because of losing my parents in January, I kind of gave up the site.

People more or less considered it a Myspace knockoff but they enjoyed it. I'd be willing to sell my license I got mine for $250 including a year of updates. I want to get rid of it for a good price, interested, PM me.
