Ubuntu linux and a windows only wireless card.

I pieced together a PC today to use as a gobetween for my router and my xbox.

Works good, installed Ubuntu linux since I had it laying around, and set it all up. Woot.

I put in the wireless card and booted, wham. Ubuntu errors out with a billion errors and I get a black screen with two icons.. computer and trash.

    Took it out, same problem.

Looked at the damned box and it says I have to have a windows PC.. great. Pulled out my handy dandy XP CD, "something.sys" is corrupt.

    So I can't install windows.

Any version of Linux that would be halfway compatible with a NetGear wireless NIC? Or should I obtain another Windows XP CD

      I found a "somewhere inbetween"

Installed a copy of Windows Professional called "VistaXP". One of those systems that is Windows, withuot a lot of the crap it comes with.

One thing, Internet Connection Sharing didn't come with it either, which sucks. So I have to figure out a way to install it or do it withyout it. Trying WinGate now but not getting a live connection.

It's an AMD K6, 600mhz 512mb RAM, yet runs better than my 1.47ghz AMD.. go figure.

I need to find "VIA bus master IDE drivers".. have a new hardware found window but no driver to use for it.. Chipset is VIA KX133
