Just becareful. There's been a revision to the OEM Licenses and from what I can tell, if you upgrade motherboards, Microsoft may not let you reinstall that same version of Windows (even though your license is legit).

      Optimistic hat on -

Well if that change has been implemented (and I've heard that also) with a bit of luck this will suggest that the cost of Vista will be a lot lower than XP is/was.

IMO XP is too expensive for what it is.

I definitely don't see anything truly compelling with Vista. Especially since the only features I thought were interesting (but never compelling) have been cut. I'd need to buy a new computer and I don't see any real benefit to spending so much money on something that gives me so little benefit. But, as usual, YMMV.
        TheologyWeb. We debate theology. srsly.

They can't tell what you've changed, even two installs done at the same moment in time will not generate the same activation ID.

And in addition, I sincerely doubt most people follow the license agreement anyway.

Yes, I have read it. But most people likely haven't. And even more probably don't care enough to follow it.

Hmmm... You assume that everyone has OEM licenses. I own five full licenses of Windows XP, 3 HOME and 2 Professional. Plus 2 licenses that are upgrades from full licenses of Windows 98SE. I don't have any OEM licenses of Windows as I have never bought a computer built by a manufacturer. Plus the full license gets you support from Microsoft directly and not some middleman.
