It doesn't matter whether Firefox really owns Internet Explorer or not.
I am a native Korean. So, most of the time, I browse Korean sites. Firefox cannot display majority of sites I visit due to active-x.

It doesn't matter how good Firefox is. I can't use it for banking, chatting, joining online clubs, and making online orders through Korean sites.

In the end, I uninstalled it after few hours.

I do use Firefox, but I only have it installed for testing things when there installed to see how they look in FF, I used to have Opera installed also for the same purpose, but after seeing only 2% of the market use it. I removed that browser. In fact figures showed only about 20% use FF compared to about 78% who use IE. Which I guess might be boosted better now the new IE is out with tabs

It doesnt matter if you like IE more than FF or FF more than IE. Who cares about your preference. What matters is that webdesigners need to make everything possible for their site to be compatible with all browsers regarldess of the consensus. If 80% of users use IE, why do I want to screw the 20%? Because they are in the minority?

I actually have the opposite problem, my site looks perfect in Firefox, but I always, always have to roll out fixes for IE users because IE does a poor job at rendering CORRECT coding. If a site only allows IE, that is sooooooooo stupid and very bad for feedback. I try to make my site look good with every possible of browser, so far, the only one I am currently having problems is Safari.. which isnt liking divs and some javascript.

I didn't say screw FF, although I wouldn't go out my way were Opera is concerned at 2% usage. But that's me and I'm not a designer.

Anyways, back to the original topic.

I think one of the major reasons why Wizet did not want other browsers viewing the site is that everything is powered by .Net components and chances are, so is their layout. Visual Studio generates some of the world's ugliest code, that for some reason magically renders perfectly in nothing but IE.

It's a huge pain to clean up the code, and with Wizet's fast growth, I think they're still trying to keep on top of things as they are. Internet Explorer still owns a huge percent of the browser market, especially when it comes to their userbase (usually inexperienced internet users, oftentimes playing from internet cafes in Asian countries). Likewise, the percentage of IE users within that group is very high; it's not a bad trade-off for them.

Because some web developers don't want to have to recode their entire site just for a small minority of FF users. Despite what you may think, IE still has more than 89% of all web traffic.

Recode there site to use FF? If your coding in XHTML 1.0 Transitional then you wouldn't have to worry about that...

64 % Of my vistors use IE and 31 % Of my vistors use Firefox. Why loss 31% of your traffic cause your either lazy or can't code in XHTML... I wouldn't want to lose 31% of my traffic cause of that. To you and some others thats a small percentage, to me thats alot of traffic to loss.
