God I wish I had the $7,500 for a 22-inch LCD that supports, oh, 9 megapixels natively. Here I am stuck with a lowly 20-inch LCD with 1.92 MP.

In about 5 to 7 years LCDs will be like CRTs, as new technology is on the horizon: OLED. The first truly portable, flat and retractable monitors (like old projector screens).

It's already used in some cameras today (with first generation problems, like fading), but there's work arounds for that problem.

So all those holding out with CRTs, the real money is on the OLED solution [save your money]. Uses less energy, truly portable, and no more dead pixels.

Not every consumer needs to have a monitor like this one.

I'm happy with my 2001FP & 2005FPW and for my needs, I'd rather stick with them then fork out ~ $8,000 for this one...

But old technology that will do what SED's can't: roll up like a projector screen. PLED (the second generation OLED) has that ability.

SED's aren't the solution for portability, let alone energy conservation that laptops and mobile devices need. Nor can you have a 128" SED without having a $$$$$$$$$$$ pocketbook. But with PLED (or other offshoots), it can be as large as it can be processed, yet roll right back into it's case afterwards.

SED's are more designed as a replacement for plasma TV's.

It's not like I own the beforementioned Viewsonic monitor nor the necessary $7,000 for it. I have a 2001FP as well.

I'm sure it's outrageously awesome for viewing high resolution images, but I'm thinking that for text and browsing the net that the print would be very tiny. Gaming would be problematic as well with current videocards...
