How do I read the server load stat?

[Server Loads: 0.52 0.55 : 0.54]

That's the stat for my server load, I have no idea what it means. A little help?

Question mark icon? eh? The stat came from a cgi script that my host has for each server that they have. I'm just on a shared server, and that's output for that script. Thanks for the link though.

That's how many processes are in the cpu run queueover a 1, 5 and 15 minute period. A value of 2 means that at that time there are on average 2 processes waiting to be sent to the cpu. Anything over a 1 and you'll start noticing cpu slowdown.
