Anyone know any good free file recovery software? Tried downlaod.com but all I could find was paid solutions. Or even a 30 day free trial or something. But a 64 kb imit of recovery is what gives me problems.

The free programs don't work all that well. It's a good idea to invest the money in a good file recovery program.

Here is the best you will get as freeware goes:

As for commercial software which is definitely worth buying I'd recommend:

    GetDataBack
    http://www.runtime.org/gdb.htm

    File Scavenger
    http://www.quetek.com/prod02.htm

Of those two programs, GetDataBack is the better one.
I've used it to recover 100% of data from completely formatted drives. (Full format, not low-level)

So I'm assuming they would also recover delete files (as in, deleted from the recycle bin) with ease, correct? Thanks for the links Vile, I could use those myself

      MGM out

Oh yeah - that's an easy one, and file recovery can definitely do that. The part that gets tricky is when you have a raw partition you are trying to recover data from; it's possible, but a PITA. Easy Recovery

is a good one for that...

When you remove something from the recycle bin, think of it as removing that entry from a "table of contents"..The data is still there. (Until you override it by installing new programs)
