Just what I had expected and blogged about

Looking at Google's past to do obscure PR stunts, there is a very real possibility that Google may be releasing its instant messenger on Wednesday, August 24th.

An LA Times article quoted one source who claimed Google intended to release the product Wednesday.

Why? Well, Thomas Edison patented the motion picture camera on this day in 1891 and the speculation is that Google may be offering video chat in its instant messenger.
        =)

I think the only useful thing they've come up with is AdSense.
And that has it's own problems.

Google needs to stick to being a search engine in my opinion.

Actually, some people (myself included) much prefer simplicity over complexity. I hate the bulky MSN or AIM. I just want something to use as a chat program and make voice conversations every once in a while.

I agree that MSN and AIM are getting way too bloated, just like ICQ did. I love the lite clients.
