Regardless of the stability of completion of their products Google will always have credibility as a homely brand. No matter what they choose to venture into they will be successful. I will probably continue to be a google customer just for that very reason, they are ambitious and it is a credible brand.

Google is definitely great, but I have a feeling they are trying to spread too much, too fast.

Not really. Netscape became a has-been long before Google was on the scene.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

Netscape got burned when Microsoft decided to force IE on to everyone.
Google seems to have already made it past Microsofts atempts to bring them down, but we all know they are not yet finished trying. Google has established a name, but their name offers no return. Their revenue comes strickly from advertising and if someone could possibly invent a new method of advertisement that would somehow beat out Google, Google would be done. Gmail, maps, search are all very popular, but as a company, they are nothing without adsense. Without adsense they would not be able to offer all of these fine services. In my opinion, they are making a very smart move trying to remove adsense as their primary means of income.

You can't blame Netscape's marketshare being nearly 0 because of IE. It was also Netscape's fault because they failed to innovate and update their browser.ManagerJosh, Owner of 4 XenForo Licenses, 1 vBulletin Legacy License, 1 Internet Brands Suite License

Paypal is great for ebay payments, buying software and stuff from stores. For micropayment it is absolutly useless.
There are so so many business models out there that need to be able to make $0.01 payments to view a cartoon, or $0.05 for site access for a day etc. My guess is this is where google is heading.
