spam attempt?

Hello!

I've seen a new user named alzaabi who is coming from the United Arab Emirate..
He is using a @hotmail.com account and filled out the profile fields (which have to be filled out during registration) with random words.

Now I checked his IP via dnsstuff.com / Spam database lookup and I got 4 positive result. I moved him to a very restricted usergroup for now..

What do you think? Did he try to spam my forums? If not, why was his IP listed in the Spam database?


All in all this is very unusual and I would be the first user who tries to spam my forums.

If he didn't post any spam, I see no reason why to move him to the restriction group...

He probably thought that the profile fields were required so he just filled it up with random text.

Arabs all use some proxy ip, there are thousends on the same IP. If one of them bans, you ban all those others. To be honest, I've had nothing but piracy issues and hack attempts from those IP ranges, so they're all blocked from my web sites just as a prevention.

I moved him to a restricted usergroup.. I didn't ban his IP

I wonder if he ever comes back.. If I don't get a notice till tomorrow he gets deleted.

I think i have seen that alzaabi guy before... just ban him if he's a troublemaker.

Moniter will be adviced. If he did not create trouble why not just left him/her there?
on my forum has more than one already. the email was a fake definatly cause the mail i sent with a reply of unknown user.

I did not do much as my forum had require activation. Only user without activation will be "promoted" to an inactive usergroup with only posting abilities and restriction to view certain forum. thats all i did.
