Tips of promoting new forums

Hi ,
I have just started up a new site www.avmechanic.co.uk and was looking for any advice on the best ways promote my forum and get users to sign up and post, i have added the url to the major search engines, wondered what else i could do.
Currently have only 2 memebers and no posts , but its only been up and running for a few days.

Post articles on sites that deal with the same theme.

Also, don't overdo it with the number of forums. The more you have, the emptier your whole board will seem, which will *scare off* users.
Get a few friends to sign up and fill up the forums a bit.

Well, another solution to this would probably make only important forums visible to guests, and when they log in, the rest of the forums will appear. Just a thought.

You could ask forums to exchange links for example. I have a few sites that do this with vBulletin forums. And there is vBulletin-Links.com too (from a friend).

I really think that content will help drive traffic to your site. No one will come and stay if you have nothing for them to read when they get there. Write unique articles, add content to your site....and then work on SEO. Once you get the traffic going the discussions will be right behind as they now have something to discuss.

Sorry i didnt even realise the copyright was missing! Im not sure how that happened it wasnt intentional. How do i get that back on?

Have worked out what i did, and have now put the copyright back on

You can try partnering with some sites that are related to your website/forum's topic. You can link back to each other, and ultimately gain more traffic.
