flash is completely over rated
its really only for looks but as apposed to functionality and maintenace...........its a dead horse
if you have a site that you need to update quickly - daily - or even a couple times a day, even using includes,
flash is a HUGE mistake

Flash can get data from a database in the same sort of way PHP can. Also I know Google is working on ways to index Flash content better, I read something about Google being at a recent flash developer conference for this.

Flash has its place, providing alternatives is a good idea still.
