        That is pretty serious, but thankfully Google already patched up and everybody should be in the clear from breaches into their system.

            Yup, these Desktop Searches definitely make it easier for someone to extract data from a compromised machine. It won't be long until the latest malware is searching for "Bank of America" or "Paypal" etc. Those that store emails containing passwords for sites they signed up to, might want to stop doing that

              Sorry about the link in the first post. It seems if you're referred from certain sites you don't have to register, (i.e. google news)

                This is why I don't use this stuff, and instead use Spotlight 100% spyware free and can't have these flaws. Rather I will use it when it comes out

                  Can't? That's rather strong, maybe doesn't(well how could it since it doesn't exist yet), but can't is just incorrect.

                    Spotlight doesn't connect to the Internet at all so it's impossible for anyone to gain access to your HD through the Spotlight DB, unlike the Google Desktop.
