I found a program on the net that makes USE of the 1GB Google GMail gives. You just use it as a local HDD but on GMAIL website you see it as an email sent to you with the attached file...

I downloaded this tool and quickly deleted it because I'm sure Google's purpose of Gmail isn't to backup your files. The more people who abuse it, the less privs we are going to have. -

question
Why assume what Google wants? If it is available use it. Unless it puts something on that you're unaware of.Comment

GMail was not created to serve as your online file library. Gmail does not have anything saying you can't use it for this prupose, but they call it an email account and not a file database for a reason. A lot of people will probably get away with it, but sooner or later Gmail will probably restrict something that will affect all of us, even those who used their account properly. Imagine if everyone stored 1GB of MP3 in their Gmail account. I realize Google has a compression scheme, but I don't care how compressed it is, thats a lot of storage and processing power.Comment

I just use my GMail for my e-mail and that's about it. I have nothing but comtempt for the author of this "tool" because in the end, it will cost all of us.Comment

I mean, besides large files, what the hell would you use 1 GB of space for? Text emails only? You wish
