Interesting to say the least. Will certainly be taking a look at their privacy policy

Looks like it stores your index on Google's servers... Have to access their webpage to use it. Think I will pass.

Don't think so. The webpage isn't located on the Google servers, but on your own computer (it has an in-built webserver). Look at the URL. (http://127.0.0.1).

I didn't ask to install a webserver... I already have one installed on my computer. I asked to install a filesearch tool. Already uninstalled it though... Don't want it on my machine.

Install Google Desktop, and then click the taskbar icon. A web page that points to something like http://127.0.0.1:4664/&s=906597761 should open.

It's pretty nifty, and extremely fast as well. Only downside is the fact that it doesn't index any files from Mozilla (Firefox or Thunderbird).

So that you can easily search your computer, the Google Desktop Search application indexes and stores versions of your files and other computer activity, such as email, chats, and web history. These versions may also be mixed with your Web search results to produce results pages for you that integrate relevant content from your computer and information from the Web. Your computer's content is not made accessible to Google or anyone else without your explicit permission

                            Yeah right.

                            Not for me......

The feature is interesting, but I thought it'd be a program, not a web search tool.. I hate having to start up IE just to search my files...... bah
