  • Piracy .. porno .. hard choice !

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/09...jails_student/

Sometimes it is really hard to get a site down running an unlicensed vBulletin, but if it was a porn site, .. they are in jail in no time.

My suggestion to Jelsoft to fight piracy is .. just report the site as running porno!

A 22-year-old Chinese computer student has been jailed for four years for running a porn site. State media reports that the student - known only by his surname Xie - was arrested in July for flogging XXX flicks.
The court heard how Xie, a student at the east China's Zhejiang University of Technology, had earned more than 160,000 yaun (£10,700) from his porn site which attracted some 1,500 subscribers.

How would running a porn site get you in jail? Was it child porn or underage or something?

Well obviously it is illegal in China.

Three weeks ago China's Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate ruled that anyone caught running a porn site faced life imprisonment.

In China, the government doesn't care if you sell pirated software or movies... but if it's porn, kaboom.

Interesting, they seem to think Porn is a virus on society leading to anti-social behaviour and such, yet Piracy which atracts thousands thru its "get rich quick" style is fine? Not to mention that it teaches that almost everything has no value and that theft is ok.. yeah good things ....

                They should do the opposite
