  • Firefox 1.0PR Released

"The Firefox Preview Release is now available, bringing the browser that Maximum PC called 'a revelatory experience' one step closer to its greatly anticipated public release. Three large new features — Live Bookmarks, the Find bar and a new plugin installer — have landed since 0.9, along with a host of critical bugfixes. The final release of 1.0 is expected in the fourth quarter of 2004."

Other than that there's tons of bugfixes and improvements. Because they've been working towards 1.0, there have not been many big new features since they've been looking for stability.

There were also a few small Winstripe updates.

Haven't tried 1.0PR yet, but my nightly handles vB3 syndication okay.

I had installed the September 1st nightly (the first that identified itself as 1.0PR I believe) and it thoroughly screwed over the extensions, making me uninstall, delete my profile folder, and then re-install. I'm hoping this release is a bit safer than the nightlies.

Are you talking about the automatic RSS icon at the bottom? That involves adding a tag to the head.

Could someone by any chance explain to me what Live Bookmarks are?

It's a "bookmark" that is a folder containing items in an RSS feed.

Like, if you live bookmark Slashdot, Firefox will grab the RSS periodically and update the live bookmark, and it would then contain the contents of the RSS (in this case, the last x articles).
