  • Netscape vs. Mozilla

What are the differences between these two browsers?

I've always used Mozilla, but I saw a screenshot of Netscape and it looked the same.

Also, which one is more popular?

Netscape is a modified version of Mozilla.

Mozilla is preferable as it is fully open-source, more frequently updated, and isn't cluttered with AOL crap throughout the program.

edit: As a third (and IMO, best) choice, try http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ .

I would think Mozilla would be more light-weight and stable than Netscape.

      Anyway, I'm using Firefox.

I am very skeptical about using Firefox as it is a beta and not fully tested yet. It seems to be the most popular choice over non-IE browsers though.

        Any reason for that?

Firefox is a lightweight browser (unlike Mozilla which is a suite) and has many IE-like features.

Mozilla was in beta for years before it finally broke 1.0. Most open-source projects tend to prefer very low version numbers, unlike some companies (*cough* Borland *cough*) which release versions for seemingly no reason.

Don't be folled by the "beta" status of firefox. I've been running it flawlessly for some time now; as have thousands of others.

Yeah. AOL always to ruin the internet whereever they are.
