  • Open attachments in a new window?

This is an unofficial poll, not meant to rant or discuss the choice by the devs to stop loading attachments in a new browser. I just want to know what you all want.

Do you want the attachments to open in a new browser window?

Yeah that would be a nice feature or perhaps write code that will allow people to choose.

You can simply add target="_blank" back in the template to fix it.

Its funny that a vBulletin moderator posts something of this nature in the Chit Chat forum. Shouldn't it be in the Suggestions and Feedback forum?

No, because I ask this as end-user, I just want to know what people want so I can take it under consideration when updating my style. If I get the impression it might be worth it, I will try to make javascript to handle the new window event to stay xhtml compliant.

This is not a petition to get it back into vb or whatever.

Yes, I'd like a new window. Most of my members aren't web savvy and dont realise or know that you can right-click on most links and open in new window. Anything that reduces the questions of how to do things over and over and over is a perference for me

Yep,makes sense to have them open in a new window. And slightly off topic, but i think the navbar links should open in a new window as well.

if you make navbar open each link in a new window.. your users will endup with many opened pages let alone the wait for each window to load.. not a smart move

I like the old way to open attachment in a new window, I am going to fix that for now once I upgrade

you could insturct users to right click or hold SHIFT while clicking but that just not gonna cut it
To be or not to be... Where the hell is the question????

Yeah, I dont agree with the navbar one, but do with the attachments. My users are used to them opening up in another window now, and it will result in confusion. It is with me already, any site running 3.X.X i've gone to and look at attachments, I'm closing window all the time and losing where I was on the net!

errr....why would a member end up with many opened pages. What is the likelyhood of a member needing to access several navbar links in one visit. I'm not talking about the links beyond the navbar, just the main ones. Then subsequent links can open in the same window.Which unless my calculations are wrong, means only one new window.

But i digress. As i said earlier,i think attachments should open in a new window.

just like it is now. I open those links in a new tab so i really don't care
                        That's the end of that!

Definately, yes, because I'm used to vB being that way.

Gah i voted in the wrong one, lol, im half asleep. I want the attachments to open in a new window, not in the same browser that is just a bad idea. So subtract 1 from the current browser option and add one to the open a new winodow.
