  • Best TV Tuning Software

I'm in the market of looking for a better TV Tuning Software.

    So far I've came across:

    Cyberlink PowerVCR II
    InterVideo WinDVR 3

Anyone else have recommendations? I despise Intervideo honestly because it too unstable, and PowerVCR is partially unstable...

I have read great things about Cyberlink PowerVCR II
But I have no experience with either of the software or tv tuning myself

There's one called BeyondTV by another company that seemed quite nice. Had a very nice interface as well. May want to give it a look?

I have Power VCR II and the ATI stuff that came with my TV Wonder VE card. I'll have to say I'm not particularly impressed with either of them (they each contain their own unique bugs). Looking for a better solution myself. Matter of fact, TV tuner card technology better make a pretty big leap fairly soon. Every once in awhile I go on a hunt for a better one and the reviews are mixed at best.

From what I can see, the usual problem with existing TV tuner software is they decided to build it on DirectX (and usually WMP9) instead of writing something that actually works, so the glitches just get compounded.

        It isn't that I can't toddle. It's that I can't guess I'll toddle."

It's the biggest resource hog known to man (I had to upgrade to 2.6 GHz P4 to stream the video feed in real-time on my network), but it's quite nice. Listings integrated in the program and support for remote controls.

Aha! That's the one I was thinking of! I only use the S-Video in on my Compro but it worked great for the TV in.

SnapStream works the best. It runs fine on my PC, but I've got quite a machine. I just don't want to pay the cash to buy it. Best thing to do is download the trial and see how it performs. If you think you need it, buy it.

I use Winamp for my TV Tuner. If you like, I can find the plugin for you. I wouldn't recomend using Winamp unless your remote is compatable, or you don't need remote access.

The newest version, still in beta, allows recording. I have not yet upgraded yet because I do all of my recording using the software that is made for my card. It turns on my PC whenever my favorite show is on, records it, then shuts off. Its nice while I am at work or sleeping.
