Increase in traffic since the switch to VB!

I thought it was very interesting that we had an increase in traffic (1/5 or more) since the change to VB, and I mean basically overnight. I have spoke with others that have seen the same. Are there any others around here that have forums up and have noticed the same.

It speaks pretty highly for the software itself when traffic increases are due to new forum software, and what a difference!

Aaron, We've had an increase as well. Page views are up along with registrations and posts. I'd say probably a 10-15% increase. Gotta love it when a plan works even better than you expected!

Perhaps the reason for the increase is because your stats program does not count cgi pages as page views (if you were talking about an increase in page views

Actually I am tracking through ad software, and that is the difference in banners displayed

          speaking of tracking

I guess since there are no hard coded .cgi or .html files my server page view stats have gone down to basically nothing (which is good mind you) - less server load and about 60 megs freed up - no joke.

MY QUESTION: What is a good tracking counter to use with this php software? - I want to build up some good stats for potential advertisers and a simple number of ads presented isn't quite good enough. I'd like something similar to page views or pages generated etc... any thoughts. Thanks again in advance

I couldn't believe the increase... We were growing quickly before, but there was just such a boost when we installed the software that it couldn't be anything else... Aaron wasn't kidding when he said overnight, it literally had only been about 10 hours when we started noticing a difference. We though maybe it was just interest in the new board, but it's steadily increased and increased ever since.

Sure, we had to upgrade our server after installing vBulletin... To handle the additional traffic!

We instantly had a 15-20% bump as well. Our tech difficutlies hurt us, but we have overcome them and are VERY happy.

Yep - us too. I think that all the new features, and the faster speed, encourages people to take a more active role in the forums - it's that simple. Our visitors /love/ vBulletin! I was expecting a whole host of stupid questions on why things were different, how the new things work but, apart from a few bug reports, everyone has been singing my praises for making the change
