Any use underwater photography cases?

Why are the ones I have seen so expensive?
Cost of manufacturing?

Do they take good pictures, or are they a waste of $$$ ?

My friend has a digital camera and he just got a blue-ish thing he could put around it, costed him like $25. Which suprised me.

I always have an interst in photography, but it is just too expansive for me.

The cost will be high as its no doubt got to be able to withstand several atmosphrers of preesure thus normal plastics etc will be absoloute bollo*s.

But as Floris said im sure ive seen cheper alternatives in shops $240 is a little steep

I have a WP-DC700 for my Canon A60. I've taken some nice underwater pics ~30meter deep. Excelent case and worth every cent!
