Linking with other sites that are of similar topic or that will compliment the topic of your website. Word of mouth, flyers are best for visitors that will return on a regular basis.

Someone asked them if they know how to get traffic to his site.. After they said it on their show, his site got shutdown for a while because of the THOUSANDS of visitors, in that period of 5 mins..
