forumdisplaybit, $thread[postedby], where can i change it?

I was looking for a way to change the way the variable $thread[postedby] is displayed. Current it posts the link with an underline and i've found no template i can change. Also, i'm very happy with the current style sheet i have and would perfer not to change it.

... the varilable is to do with the thread starter. Below gives you an idea of what i'm aiming for but i need to remove the underline
