    How do I seperate the original post from the rest of the replies? It would seem they share the same 'postbit' template.

    Hi, the template postbit is:

    <table bgcolor="#FFFFFF" width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"><tr><td width="10"><img width="10" height="1" src="images/space.gif" alt=""></td><td width="100%"><!-- spacer -->

    <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" bgcolor="#555576" width="100%" align="center"><tr><td>
    <table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="1" border="0" width="100%">
    <td bgcolor="$post[backcolor]" width="175" valign="top" nowrap>
    <a name="post$post[postid]"></a>
    <smallfont>Inscription: $post[joindate]<br>
    Domicile: $post[field2]<br>
    Messages: $post[posts]</smallfont></td>

    <td bgcolor="$post[backcolor]" width="100%" valign="top">
    <smallfont>$post[icon] <b>$post[title]</b></smallfont>
    <p align="right"><smallfont><a href="report.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&postid=$post[postid]">Envoyer ce message &agrave; un mod&eacute;rateur</a> | $post[iplogged]</smallfont></p>
    <td bgcolor="$post[backcolor]" width="175" height="16" nowrap><smallfont>$onlinestatus $post[foldericon]
    $post[postdate] <font color="#666686">$post[posttime]</font></smallfont></td>

    <td bgcolor="$post[backcolor]" width="100%" valign="middle" height="16">
    <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
    <tr valign="bottom">
    $post[profile] $post[pmlink] $post[useremail] $post[homepage] $post[search] $post[buddy]
    <!-- $ post[icqicon] --> <!-- $ post[aimicon] --> <!-- $ post[yahooicon] -->
    <td align="right" nowrap><smallfont>
    <a href="editpost.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=editpost&postid=$post[postid]"><img src="images/edit.gif" border="0" alt="Editer/Effacer le Message"></a>
    <a href="newreply.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=newreply&postid=$post[postid]"><img src="images/quote.gif" border="0" alt="Citer le message dans la r&eacute;ponse"></a>

    <!-- spacer --></td><td width="10"><img width="10" height="1" src="images/space.gif" alt=""></td></tr></table>

    You can doing a query and define $post[message], $post[attachment] , etc next you display that

      There's a hack at to make the first post in a thread have a different layout. Can't remember the name, but it's by FireFly.

        I'm sorry... I don't really follow.

        I replaced the postbit template with the one you provided... but it doesn't seem to work.

        What do I have to do with the $post[message] and $post[attachement]?

        When you said doing a query, r u referring the query to mySQL query or something else?

        Thanks again!

          What do you want to do ?

          the postbit template is the same for all post, and you want a different display for the first message ?

          You must create a new template, postbit2 for example, with all variables $post[xxxxxx] off course.
          On line 304 in functions.php; you can write php code to display postbit2 only for the first message, and postbit for the others.
