  • Alignment off in Showthread

    Can someone tell me if this is normal, and if not how I can possible fix it? The image I've attached shows the problem, or you can see it for yourself here.

    Its a minor thing, but its really getting to me.

    TIA!

    I don't see the attached image here (they probably turned off that image), and I am not sure I can see your alignment problem.

    Is it the cells for the Author and Thread that you are speaking of?

      Argh, I somehow managed to forget to attach it! Yes, basically, the dividing line between author and thread looks off to the right about one pixel from the one below it...

          Um, just some. But it shows off like that on every browser I try. hehe. Any ideas what could cause that? Here is an excerpt from showthread...
          Code:
          <!-- first unread and next/prev -->

          <table background="cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" bgcolor="#555576"   width="100%" align="center"><tr><td>
          <table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="1" border="0"  width="100%">
          <tr>
          	<td bgcolor="#8080A6" width="175" nowrap><smallfont color="#EEEEFF" class="thtcolor"><b>Author</b></smallfont></td>
          	<td bgcolor="#8080A6" width="100%">
          	<!-- Thread nav and post images -->
          	<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
          	<tr>
          		<td width="100%"><smallfont color="#EEEEFF" class="thtcolor"><b>Thread</b></smallfont></td>
          		<td><a href="newthread.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=newthread&forumid=$forum[forumid]"><img src="images/newthread.gif" border="0" alt="Post New Thread"></a></td>
          Can't believe I'm this annoyed w/1 pixel. LOL

              No, not on that site...its on the beta site here:

              beta.errantlands.com/forums/. The old site doesn't work in too many browsers, the beta site display properly for the most part.

                    Odd, its only one pixel off on mozilla .98 that I'm in right now. I think I may just rip out the Thread column altogether, it's too annoying.

                      DUH, I figured out why. The top cells in showthread somehow have two pixels around them, I can tell by looking at the outside. This pushes the internal cell over 1 pixel, which causes the misalignment I believe.

                      The really 'off' alignments people have are outdated browsers, use something like a mozilla (or galeon) on mozilla .98 or later and things seem to work fine.

                          Fixed it! If anyone else has the same there, here is what I did:

                          Code:
                          <!-- first unread and next/prev -->

                          <table background="cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" bgcolor="#555576"   width="100%" align="center"><tr><td>
                          <table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="1" border="0"  width="100%">
                          On that first line, just remove the background=" part completely, and it removes the extra pixel background, which pushes things over a pixel to the right, etc. The same thing goes for the extra pixels near the time statements and all, there is a similar table down there that can have the background=" removed.

                          Sorry for typing this all out in the forum when I could have found it on my own...
