    Forums as Categories

    Hi,

    I've installed this hack on my forums at http://www.servicepals.com/forums/index.php and it works a treat - looks beautiful.

    I was wondering how I would complete it by setting it up to work as forum categories as well (eg.http://www.servicepals.com/forums/fo...p?s=&forumid=1) ?? I believe this would be useful to all members,

    All the best,

    Kind Regards,

    Ross Williams

        Awesome! I've seen this before, but had no idea it was so easy. Just installed on mine.

            .. as long as you put it in the right <td> tag it will work .. I think users who have altered their forum templates already or replaced some code in files.php just have to find out which <td> tag is used for the right cell. That is the cell that needs to be altered with the on mouse over effects. thaz all

                      Edit ForumDisplayBit Template.

                      Find:
                      Code:
                      <td bgcolor="#F1F1F1" align="left" width="70%">
                      Now use Xiphoid's Same code but change the last line to:
                      Code:
                      onClick="window.location.href='showthread.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&threadid=$thread[threadid]'">
                      NOTE-#F1F1F1 would be { firstaltcolor } in your template
                      Thanks Xiphoid!
                      That's how

                        Thread list pages

                        Goto the Admin Control Panel,
                        find the template: forumdisplaybit and from it find:
                        Code:
                        <td bgcolor="{firstaltcolor}" align="left" width="70%">
                        and replace that with:
                        Code:
                        <td bgcolor="{firstaltcolor}" align="left" width="70%" onMouseOver="this.style.backgroundColor='{secondaltcolor}'; this.style.cursor='hand';" onMouseOut="this.style.backgroundColor='{firstaltcolor}';" onClick="window.location.href='showthread.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&threadid=$thread[threadid]'">
                        then save the template.

                        Note, this doesn't highlight announcements. (which are different template)

                        To also highlight the annoucements with onmouseover, find the template foruX and in it find:
                        Code:
                        <td bgcolor="{firstaltcolor}" align="left">
                        and replace that with:
                        Code:
                        <td bgcolor="{firstaltcolor}" align="left"  onMouseOver="this.style.backgroundColor='{secondaltcolor}'; this.style.cursor='hand';" onMouseOut="this.style.backgroundColor='{firstaltcolor}';" onClick="window.location.href='announcement.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&forumid=$foruminfo[forumid]'">

                        Also updated the first post in the thread to reflect changes, for future reference

                        Enjoy people.

                                Is there any way this could be modified so that the hyperlinked text (linking to the forum or thread) could change to it's appropriate CSS rollover color when another part of the table is highlighted?

                                widgetinstance 262 (Related Topics) skipped due to lack of content & hide_module_if_empty option.
