Is There A Way....

I want to have a gradient applied to all sections of my forum that are using the category bg color (take catbg.gif for example). Is there a way to apply it to the top of all sections without going in and editing each and every template by hand and setting it to images/catbg.gif as the background?

If so, please let me know how, it would save me a great deal of time.

Just off the top of my head, in the category bg colour field, type:

#000000" background="images/catbg.gif

Not the lack of "'s at the beginning and end of the line

I am sorry to inform you that it is currently not possible to just click a selection from the Admin control panel to 'instead' replace the colour with an background image. You will need to make your fingers dirty and edit an template or two.

Example:
To alter the category background from the index page of the forum check this thread on my web site

Thanks for the help, but I already know how to do the replacements, I just did not want to have to edit 20 different things to make them all have the gradient. That is ok though, maybe it will make my hard work pay off it I have to do it all manually .

What MarkB suggested will work even on the newest version of vbulletin you can even use
#000000" background="{imagesfolder}/cat.bg
You will get a run error but just click cancel to not debug and click save

In Category Strip Background Color. I have uploaded the bar.gif to /images yet it is still not working any help???

you might wanna try taking the / away from in front of images/bar.gif or you could try it like this
#000000" background="{imagesfolder}/bar.gif and see if that works

minus the space.

I used the below and it seems to be working on v2.2.2

"#000000" background="images/image.gif"

It worked for me, not sure about others. Everyone I asked told me to do the same such as below:

#000000" background="images/image.gif"

But it did not work (for me), but what I posted at the top did.
