Reason: The skin is an extremely modified version of an off the shelf skin. However, the challenge was in trying to reduce load times to the barest minimum.

We spent a lot of time and effort to remove images and replaced them with text. In cases images couldn't be replaced, we sprited them so that the amount of http calls could be kept to the barest minimum.

This forum has been designed to ensure people with low internet speeds or people on dialup can spent more time using the site than waiting for it to load. Also it was optimized for 1024 x 768 because that resolution is used by the majority of the users.

Stats: Born May 1st, 2009 for beta testers with official Launch May 8th, 2009.

Reason for Nomination: StockRants was the result of many hours with the intention to create a stock market forum where users had the ability to access private areas and stock tips via Reputation points. In addition to this I coded in many custom features not seen anywhere else.

Modifications & Stuff to See:

• Custom designed logo (vector) and artwork throughout (see sidebar and usergroup badges).
• Custom skin based loosely on WebSpeak by Forummonkeys.
• Usergroup level access to private forums and features via Usergroup promotion based on Reputation points.
• Usage of the Helpful Answers mod by Ted S so users can give/take Reputation. Example.
• Custom coded inline stock quotes with cache, implemented via BBcode. (these are sexy!)
• Custom coded import of financial events to the vBulletin calendar. Users love this!
• Use of colored prefixes for stock picks.
• Dozens of other modifications and design/layout enhancements.

Reason for Nomination: DefenceTalk was recently revamped, converted from joomla and Article Manager CMSes into wordpress, some work that was! We also converted the wordpress theme into vbulletin theme for the new site as well, upgraded it to latest vb along with additions like SEO and other modifications. After years of hardwork DefenceTalk forum is known for its strict policies and rules that guide our goal to lead the web in professionalism in the defense, military and global security fields.
