  • PNG question

This is more of a design implementation question.

How come my alpha transparent PNGs do not show up as alpha transparent in IE, it amazingly works in Netscape 6.1 as alpha transparent. EG is the below image:

Is it just IE 5.x? Is it fixed in IE 6.x?

    PNG Answer

Probably because the Mozilla layout engine (that NS6 is based on) is the first to correctly support the PNG specification.

Nope IE6 is no good either.

Shame on you MS, you should't let nutscrape be better at anything, apart from being one damn ugly slow browser !!!!

Sorry, had the number of colours set too low, it is NOT transparent on IE6 on WinXP.

the W3C supports alpha transparent pngs...

                        http://www.w3.org/Graphics/PNG/inline-alpha.html

It's a shame that PNG aren't supported by IE, as we mostly know, IE has been good with the W3C... But it seems netscape is gaining a lead toward the supreme W3C standards.
