  • creating a custom theme, what's the best way to go?

    Hi Guys,

We recently upgraded and unfortunately due to our old custom theme some small stuff broke. Since we were already planning to create a new custom theme I'd like to know what's the advised way to do this, do I need to make a child on one of the default themes or a new theme with or without a parent? Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Flar

What I do is make a new theme with No Parent Style, this way the new theme is completely independant of any other themes.

That's what we did originally but now it seems that is breaking small stuff because it doesn't inherit template changes when there is an upgrade.
So I guess we need a parent, but I'm wondering which one (legacy or default) and whether it can be a direct child or a second layer child. ( I remember something like that being advised when I customized the current theme)

      Best regards,
