Uploaded Styles w/ Default Templates

if i understand this correctly...

i created a new Default Template; then i merged an out-dated style into that template. now each template that appears black is still the most current version of that template available and i only need to update the red templates in order to bring the complete style up to date?

If you merged those two styles. Nothing would have changed...
