    Don't EVEN like it!

I know there was a virtual ton of work on this release and there's probably fixes and features built-in that I haven't even thought about, but I hate the new look! Oh, I'm sure it appeals to the younger group of users (especially the 'Gamers', etc.) but speaking from an older conservative point of view, I was and always will be impressed with the templates and looks of my version 3.09. It was (is) professional looking, like driving a new SL Mercedes. This one reminds me of a Boxer or maybe even a Cooper mini. The layout and looks of 3.5 is a step backwards and would be better served if it was an optional template (style) IMHO. In a word, it SUX!

There is no new look. The default vBulletin style has not changed.

They added a new style here on vBulletin.com that you can choose, if you wish, which is a tribute to the way vBulletin 1.0 looked. That style is not even available for download at this time.

I've seen a lot of posts complaining about the "new" style. Guess people don't know what "retro" means

Maybe Kier should clarify that this is a look-to-the-past style in this post, and that this isn't the new style for vB. It could be confusing for people who don't know vB all to well.

For the record, I think it's pretty cool

I spent about an hour making it, and Kier has spent some time tweaking it, but in all honesty its just a tribute to a former time.

The vBulletin 3.5 release is proud of being a successful company for over 5 years now, showing off where it came from the version 1 and version 2 styles are temporary made public.

As you can see when you download 3.5 stable from the members area the latest 3.5 style is the only and default style. The alternative styles are just for vbulletin.com for nostalgia reasons.

As with every style, 50% likes it, 50% doesn't like it. If you don't like it, it just means you enjoy the latest version much more.

So the vBulletin Retro style will never be released? I don't understand why not, when the vBulletin Class style has been released...

I do find it a little strange too.

I understand that people put a lot of time into making a style and that if they build something special for their board then they may want to keep it private. But this is a style which use to be the vBulletin default style and therefore was in the public domain.

I for one would love to see it released, as it seems to be very bandwidth conservative and is also very funky. *theArchitect is a big fan of anything retro*.

There are a few things I'm not happy with on the retro style. When that and the classic (vB2) styles are fixed and functionally complete I'll release them together.

Well, for one thing, Kier's avatar looks like crap with the retro style.
