Your using bad html / formatting that is why its not working

Which is a span tag with no proper quting, glow doesnt work with XHTML and you need to end a span tag with an end span tag, not end font

Im aware, however, even with XHTML doctype the font tag should still work AND render the glow for any IE based browser.

Sure, it will work, but judging from your post I was assuming you wanted to do it XHTML compliant, but ok .
