  • vb3 templates like vb2?

This may sound silly, but are any templates with VB2's look for VB3?

not a big fan of the way VB3, so I've been waiting to upgrade

I'm looking for this too. No one seems to have an answer, though.

Use the 'Classic' style for vB3. It's really only the vB3 layout with vB2 colors though. If you want templates like vB2, I'm not too sure if they are available anywhere. You can do little things to make your forum more vB2-like. Like using postbit legacy instead of the vB3 postbit. <--- Where to get the classic style for vB3.

It doesn't sound "silly" to me at all, i just shelled out 85 bucks for the sole purpose of buying vB2.

I really don't like the vB3 design either and desperately would like a vB2 template for the vB3 version.

If vB2 wasn't still available for download i wouldn't of bothered purchasing. The only thing i will miss by running vB2 is the junior admin function.

So until a vB2 template becomes available, i won't even consider downloading the newer version.

Personally, I think it is a huge improvement. I didn't really like the design of vBulletin 2 and was only running it because it was supposed to be #1. Now I'm running vBulletin 3 since I like the featureset. The ACP could be a little brighter through, I suppose it is time to try the other styles and/or try styling it myself.

i decided to bite the bullet and upgrade

              here's my progress to a vb2 look --

here's a look at the postbit

I wanted to keep the look as similar as possible when I upgraded too. It's taken a bit of work, but nothing major.

The bit that was most work was going back to separate columns for "Thread" and "Thread starter" but it's all still template mods (and it's documented on these forums).

I haven't put the Profile/PM/www etc buttons back in to the postbit, but may do eventually. The VB3 method of clicking on the username of the poster to get a drop down menu isn't as intuitive, but it does mean that the screen is less clutteres.

You can see how it looks at

I am very pleased with the upgrade. It took quite a bit of learning, but that's because there's quite a lot new to learn! If you haven't upgraded yet then I strongly suggest that you spend some time with a test installation so that you can get find your way around it and make any changes before you unleash it on your users!
