You can't just change the character encoding, you'd also need to change the old characters, theres no easy way to make this transition.

I know thats not easy.but I need it. with old encoding I cant use ajax features.
I think no character change need. if i have a text file that saved in utf-8 encoding and copy and paste the content of my vb sql databse in that and save. the new file is that i need. but wich pc can open 600 MB text file?

my forums database charset is Arabic-windows (windows-1256) I want change it to UTF-8 ...
my db is about 600 MB I cant open it whith editor. its not a way to change encoding of that?
