    4.1 feature - Improved Upgrader

As part of vBulletin 4.1, Freddie has been working on an overhauled upgrade process.
It enables upgrades to be performed seamlessly from vBulletin version 3.5.4+
The upgrade can be run from command line as well, in case your board is sufficiently large that the upgrade process times out in your browser window.

(sorry in advance for the poor audio - I did it off my laptops inbuilt microphone)

Maybe as the forum gets more along the refactoring road, it will be possible.
Maybe add a bit in the installer:

Default Web page: Options 1. Forum 2. Index 3. Groups 4. Custom

then in the admincp do a page in the styles and languages: Default Web page. As default it is the index.php if you wish to change this please select a page from the drop down, and click save. After doing so you may have to rebuild your tables.

Just an idea, with your tech team that shouldn't be too hard to code.

      A Suggestion :

make an upgrade package installer . mean customers upload just one file ( installer ) and when installer runs it extract files to right folders and start the upgrade process .

Most servers do not allow PHP to write files to the filesystem unless they are CHMOD 777 for security reasons. For this to work you would have to CHMOD every file to 777, which is a huge security risk considering most admins won't bother setting them all back to 644.
