I have been asked several times if there isn't an easier way for customers to create or edit the config.php.new file for first time installations. After a bit of thinking I had a great idea and realized it.
One can now go to my web site and it will create a config.php file for vBulletin 3.7.1 that's ready for use. All it takes is for the user to enter the MySQL details and click generate. Very simply. Come check it out.
Note: This is not an official Jelsoft script and it is not supported by the vBulletin staff either.

#13Floris commentedFri 6 Jul '07, 5:03amEditing a commentThe difference between manually editing the file and doing it in an online form, is that users don't have to worry about the editor they use, if it saves ok, if they add white lines where they should not, and if they should edit the data on the left or the right of the equal sign. These are issues addressed by customers at times and this is just a quick way to try and get their install going. It's an unofficial script and totally optional for people to use. And hopefully it helps those who are having trouble and could use a hand.
